In chapter one he couldn’t understand why every relationship fell apart. In chapter two we saw who was doing it: one of her friends, quietly clearing the way so she could have him to herself.
This is chapter three, and he finally looks up from the laptop.
“I Looked Up” is his song, and it’s loud. It’s 90s grunge and noise rock, with quiet verses, fuzz guitars that explode in the chorus, and a strained male vocal. The bridge drops into a shoegaze haze before it all kicks back in.

Panel one. For the first time in a year, he looks up from the screen, and she’s already looking at him.

Panel two. The photo wall. Every girlfriend is scratched out, and his face is the only one left untouched.

Panel three. It all lands at once. It was never the rain, never bad timing. The room goes red.

Panel four. He should hate her. So why is he still standing there? Is it love, or is it war?

Panel five. Out in the rain, she holds out her hand. She cleared the floor, and now she wants the dance.
