The Door (No Coincidence, Alternative Ending)

Last Monday, No Coincidence got its ending. He took her hand in the rain, and they danced.

But every story has other ways it could have gone. This is the first alternative ending. What if he looked at that outstretched hand and said no?

“The Door” is slow-burn post-punk and goth. He sings it cold and tired over chiming guitars and a drum machine, and it builds into a wall of feedback before cutting out completely. Then she gets the last verse, alone.

Panel one. She holds out her hand as if it was always his to take.

Panel two. He remembers the wall of scratched-out faces. He doesn’t want to be the last one in the frame.

Panel three. This is the door. He leaves the same way every one of those girls did.

Panel four. Farewell. He doesn’t look back.

Panel five. The laptop is still glowing on the empty chair. She cleared every room, and now it’s only her.
