Before He Answers (No Coincidence, Alternative Ending)

This is the last post in the No Coincidence series, and the strangest ending of the three.

In The Dance, he took her hand. In The Door, he walked away. In this version, we never find out.

“Before He Answers” is minimal darkwave, whispered and close, with a heartbeat kick drum, ambient synths and a theremin. It builds and builds, and then it stops dead just as he starts to give his answer.

Panel one. She’s done hiding. Say it now, or say it never.

Panel two. He can hear the rain, and he can hear his heart.

Panel three. The whole street stops. Two people in one pool of light, and nobody moves.

Panel four. Is it love, or is it war?

Panel five. Their hands are an inch apart. “My answer is…”
