Every Halloween table needs one thing that vanishes before you’ve even put the music on. These are it. Crescent roll “bandages” wrap ordinary hot dogs into fun, kid-friendly little monsters that look great on a snack table and disappear fast. Ten minutes of wrapping, a quarter of an hour in the oven, and the mummies are out.

Halloween Mummy Hot Dogs
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 12–15 minutes
Servings: 8
Ingredients
- 8 hot dogs (any variety you like)
- 1 can (8 oz / 226 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- Mustard (yellow or Dijon) for eyes
- Optional: small pieces of black olive or candy eyes for a more detailed face
- Optional extras: ketchup “blood”, ranch for dipping, or mini pretzel sticks as extra legs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Open the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Cut each triangle into long, thin strips (about ¼–⅓ inch wide). These will be the mummy bandages.
- Place a hot dog on the baking sheet. Starting near one end, wrap the dough strips around the hot dog in overlapping layers so it looks like a mummy. Leave a small gap near one end for the face. Press the ends of the dough gently so they stick.
- Repeat with the remaining hot dogs. Space them a little apart on the baking sheet so they brown evenly.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes. Use a toothpick or small spoon to add two dots of mustard for eyes (or press on olive pieces or candy eyes).
- Serve warm. For extra Halloween flair, drizzle a little ketchup nearby as “blood” or set out ranch or mustard for dipping.

Tips & Variations
- Make them ahead: Assemble the wrapped hot dogs, cover, and refrigerate for a few hours. Bake just before serving.
- Spider version: Skip most of the wrapping, add 8 pretzel-stick “legs”, and use mustard or olive eyes.
- Bloody mummy: After baking, lightly brush or drizzle red sauce or ketchup over the dough.
- Air-fryer option: Cook at 360°F (180°C) for 8–10 minutes, checking halfway.
- Dietary swaps: Use turkey or plant-based hot dogs and gluten-free crescent dough if needed.

Serving them up
These are a hit at Halloween parties because they’re simple, customisable, and look much more impressive than they are. Pile them on a dark platter, put the dips in the middle and stand back.

Happy Halloween. Let me know in the comments if your mummies survived the party.
