Every Halloween party needs a centrepiece you can hear fizzing from across the room. This is mine. A fruity, fizzy, non-alcoholic punch that looks like it’s bubbling straight out of a witch’s cauldron, with gummy worms climbing out and candy eyeballs watching your guests. Ten minutes, one big bowl, and there’s a grown-up version at the bottom if you want it.

Witch’s Brew Cauldron Punch
A bubbling, non-alcoholic Halloween soft drink.
Prep time: 10 minutes
Servings: 8–10
Ingredients
- 1 litre (about 4 cups) grape soda or black cherry soda, chilled
- 1 litre (about 4 cups) orange soda or ginger ale, chilled
- 2 cups orange juice, chilled
- 1 cup lemon-lime soda (Sprite or 7-Up), chilled
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1–2 drops black or purple food colouring (optional, for deeper colour)
- Ice cubes (or freeze orange juice into ice cubes so they don’t water it down)
- Optional: small food-grade dry ice pellets (for fog effect)
- Garnishes: gummy worms, candy eyeballs, orange slices, or lime wedges
Instructions
- Pour the grape soda, orange soda, orange juice, and lime juice into a large punch bowl or plastic cauldron. Stir gently to combine.
- Add the lemon-lime soda last so it stays fizzy. Stir in food colouring if you want a darker, more “swampy” colour.
- Add ice. For the dramatic bubbling fog effect, carefully drop in a few small pieces of dry ice using tongs right before serving. Important: Never touch dry ice with bare skin, and do not drink the punch while any dry ice is still visible. Wait until it has fully disappeared.
- Drape gummy worms over the rim, float a few candy eyeballs on top, and add citrus slices. Serve immediately in clear glasses.

Tips
- Make it ahead: Make it ahead (without the dry ice and final soda) and keep chilled; add the fizzy soda and dry ice at the last minute.
- Lighter version: Use diet sodas and fresh-squeezed juice.
- Dry ice safety: Keep dry ice handling supervised. Great for kids and adults.
Enjoy your bubbling cauldron. Happy Halloween! 🎃

Alcoholic Version (Witch’s Brew Cauldron Punch with Vodka)
To turn this into a spiked party punch, add 2–3 cups (475–710 ml) vodka after combining the sodas and juices (step 1 or 2). Stir gently so it stays fizzy.
- Use plain vodka for a clean taste, or try vanilla vodka or citrus vodka for extra flavour.
- Start with 2 cups and taste. Add more if you want it stronger.
- The rest of the recipe stays the same (including optional dry ice and garnishes).
- As always, serve responsibly and keep dry ice handling careful.
